RE: Translators wanted!
I don't know (I don't think so) if it is in version 0.1. So you probably have to get a newer version ( http://forums.xonotic.org/showthread.php?tid=1863 ).
Its in game at: Settings -> Misc!

Thanks.
The update did not work. I'll try again later, with the help of the forum.

RE: Translators wanted!
I'd like to translate the game to Greek. I know this thread is somewhat old but it obviously hasn't been locked yet and it's definitely not too late to get the translation into 1.0!
This is despite the fact no Greek person will own a computer (or pants) by the time 1.0 is released thanks to socialists, haha.

Anyway, I'm one of the most active translators for Greek on translatewiki.net which translates open-source projects like FreeCol, Mediawiki (the software Wikipedia and stuff use, including all Wikia wikis) and OpenStreetMap among others. I've completed the translation for Open Images all by myself, though it rather disappointingly still only supports Dutch and English so many months later. In total, over 1500 strings translated by yours truly. And I want in.

Sure, that would be really great! I actually wonder though if our font actually currently supports greek characters... I'm sure sev or divVerent could provide an answer to that though.

Anyway, i'll notify divVerent as he's the one who set up this whole translation group -- thanks and welcome to Xonotic Big Grin

By the way, there are expected to be quite a lot of menu changes in the future before 1.0, so it's quite likely you'll need to be actively translating them before releases. ^_^

Hello.
I'd like to finish the French translation. One or two string are not translated. (I use the auto-update version of Xonotic.)
How can I do, please?

Greek would be nice, and we already have support for Greek characters in our font, so that should work.

Are you familiar with gettext translating? I suppose you are, given your background. So I can keep it quite quick.

Let's start with translating the menu, that is the most important part. In-game messages are not completely translatable yet anyway.

The .po template is at:

http://git.xonotic.org/?p=xonotic/xonoti...ot;hb=HEAD

You rename this to menu.dat.el.po (el is the country symbol for greek) and edit with a text editor. Remember to keep the file in UTF-8 encoding. Your goal is to keep the msgid lines as is, and put the translated equivalent in the msgstr lines.

If you see %s like stuff, you need to keep it. If a string contains multiple such placeholders, you are normally not allowed to swap them. However, we support advanced syntax for such from C99's printf function.

Also, ^7 or the like need to be kept as is (they do coloring).

Example:

msgid "^1%s^7 ate ^2%d cookies^7."
msgstr "^2%2$d cookies^7 were eaten by ^1%1$s^7."

will translate

divVerent ate 42 cookies.

into

42 cookies were eaten by divVerent.

When you are done, you can test your translation by putting your menu.dat.el.po file into ~/.xonotic/data/menu.dat.el.po (basically, in the same directory as your config.cfg goes), then start the game and enter "prvm_language el; menu_restart" on the game console which you reach by pressing shift-escape.

Huh
Hmm... does this need compiling for source? I seem to be unable to find this config.cfg file, at least on Windows XP from the torrent package.

Or do you need a Unix-like system to do this (as hinted by the ~/.)? I haven't used Linux in a while... damn KDE, why do you have to be a resource hog and why do the other DEs have to suck so badly in comparison to you?! Big Grin

RE: Translators wanted!
Hi, I made bulgarian translation of Xonotic 0.5.0, and because I'm not sure where to send it, I'm posting it here.
It's 90% completed - the game modes, some graphics options and some minor (but hard to translate) strings are still untranslated.

RE: Translators wanted!
I contacted divVerent and he said he's want this translation. I hope my version not different to that of HEAD as far the original text goes. You should include the Bulgarian fellow's one as well.

Also, apologies for me forgetting how to convert to MO... I guess I've gotten too used to Transifex and Translatewiki software. -.-

Thanks! The translation is added now.

"Also, apologies for me forgetting how to convert to MO... I guess I've gotten too used to Transifex and Translatewiki software. -.-"

We don't use .mo files, we're not using original gettext. The DarkPlaces engine reads .po files directly.

RE: Translators wanted!
CA = A game mode called "Clan Arena". It's like a mix of TDM and LMS. You spawn with full health and all weapons. Once you die you have to spectate in this round until 1 entire team is dead (team which is alive gets the point).

Rocket Flying is a mutator and I guess it changes the settings of the Rocket Launcher to allow rocket flying. It allows something like this I guess: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvM5te70iek

No, not that CA. CA in Server Information, above Key and below Ping. Starts with Xon//

I don't get it and i can't repeat that in game. It looks like there is no difference between RL with mutator or without it in my Xonotic Smile Anyone?

RE: Translators wanted!
Rocketlfying mutator sets rocketdelay to zero. Which means you can detonate your rocket immediately after you fired it, and fly that way -> awesome Smile

Hefty bump, but just to let you know, I've started Polish translation. It's not even close to being complete, but there are some lines translated. If someone wants to help make it happen faster, feel free to do so.

RE: Translators wanted!
I'd help but I'm still not even near 50% of FreeOrion translation that I started years ago :-P. I found that textfile/forum/wiki aren't good tools for translating if there are more than a couple of lines of text to translate. (Qt Linguist is an ideal tool IMHO.)

Send me the file please. Maybe I'll contribute with the spanish version.

EDIT: I'm from Argentina. So I'll be contributing with the american spanish, or Argentinean spanish if we want to be more specific.

Ептить, да внутри движка русский не поддерживается!... Ой.

There's no Russian language support in DarkPlaces engine. Sad
Maybe dev team will add it as well as other languages.

RE: Translators wanted!
No russian language support? How so?

The DP engine is indeed in english, but most gamecode strings can be translated, and that's what matters. The xonotic console is in english, but that kind of makes sense.

Can you describe the problem?

RE: Translators wanted!
Hello! I know you have all been waiting for this. I can tell by the sheer amount of requests I got for this (literally zero). And now luckily there wont be any Smile

So see the attachment for my latin translation!

It took a while to finish it, since I had to trace a lot of non-ancient words back to their roots. Therefore some inconsistencies might have crept into it.
