Welcome to Xonotic! Nice to see more Nexuiz refugees enjoy Xonotic and its many fantastic improvements. Definitely check out
Halogene's Newbie Corner here on the forums, definitely a must to familiarize yourself with Xonotic's advanced movement, etc. There are several parts to it, I'd start from the beginning since even things you might be familiar with from Nex have their differences here in Xonotic. It's much more fun when you start getting into that stuff, have fun man!
