On behalf of the team I'm happy to announce that Xonotic 0.8.2 is now available! No, this isn't a joke. I repeat: no, this isn't a joke. YASSSS!

Last time I played in past of 2015, at that time version have 0.8.1.
When today I remind about that game and run it, I expect that at least one update will be here. But you never know how I surprised when I open that thread and see that update post posted 1 hour ago.

I can't believe that it not April fool to me, because after so much waiting (more than one year) I join only at that time it updated. If I start game one hour ago I will no see that it was udpated. That situation is unbelievable. I'm so shocked. Angel
I found typo in link url in update post. One image linking to http://xonotic.org/m/uploads/2018/02/erbium.jpg
while should be http://xonotic.org/m/uploads/2017/02/erbium.jpg

No mention of gameplay changes? Quick ones I noticed while running around myself:
- Removed spread for Hagar primary
- Removed spread for Electro secondary
- Electro secondary can now hit players directly
- Crylink primary projectiles no longer detonate simultaneously when one of them hits a player
Smilecythe - thanks for mentioning those. They were just an honest omission. I'll make sure to cover those things in the release video!

Glad to know your suggestions were implemented.
Who's idea was the update nag floater? 
Apparently it isn't just on the main menu and it shows up mid-game too.
It is/has been/was pissing people off.
Made the Linux clients on my server go something along the lines of "Uggghh! it's not in the repos yet".
Didn't even know about the shit being pulled off until someone mentioned shenanigans like fart noises, etc.

How about respecting the user's freedoms to play on an outdated client?

(FYI we've had the update floater for a very, very long time.)
How do i access the new mutators (rocket minsta, vampire hooks, breakable hooks) ?
i installed the new version, and when i access the mutators section, while creating a new local game i can only see the old mutators
The menu is lacking in space, so until a better system is in place, the best way to access them would be through the console (~ or SHIFT+ESCAPE):

g_rm 1 (for rocket minsta, requires instagib)
g_vampirehook 1
g_breakablehook 1

For what it's worth, this isn't Windows, you get no benefits out of using an older version.


But really, replacing the nagger is a many step process, one that takes 2 releases to resolve, along with the menu implementation to replace it.

To tack onto Mario's post. divVerent had said we can/should give a lead time of ~2 weeks before activating the nag box, instead of on release day.

Maybe I did the install wrong or something but I can't see it anywhere :|

Both race modes are hidden from the menu.
