Full Version: Xonotic and QuakeC: How painful could it be rewrite Xonotic in a new language?

In my mind flutters an heavy and hard to do idea: Why Xonotic code cannot be rewrote in c or c++ and use a new game engine like godot, armory3d or blender game engine? It should be easy to develop, and support, easier to create new contents, map, player skins, mod.... and it should be easy to understand by more coders. I would to understand what could to be the issues that make this idea unreal,  other than
- absence of money, time, willing...

Moreover, I would to know what I should to need/learn to make this idea real (learn c, c++, or opengl/vulkan, or Idunno what)

I understand that it is a difficult and hazardous idea, I don't expect an AAA+ game, and

I apologize if this idea seems to not appreciate the efforts of developers (of course it's not my intention) but I love xonotic and I would like to make (or help to make) it better, more attractive, and more easy to develop and mod.

Many thanks for your replies
