Hamster 2And indeed, this voting result does indicate that we have a quality problem. I
do think that the previous polls contained more good quality music.
However, do consider the fact that commercial sample banks usually
cannot be used to make GPL compatible music. All you really have, is your own
recordings, synths, and stuff where you explicitly have a license to do this.
However, the trick is to configure the synths right... and that is absolutely
not easy. Also unfa's and Rage's comments about mastering apply. You cannot
compare this to e.g. CC music, which can use commercial sample banks without
any problems.

Note that a custom map can include any of these tracks, by simply including it. Just because a track was rejected for official maps, doesn't mean your own map cannot use it.
The ogg files are already fully prepared. You can find the rejected tracks now on http://www.xonotic.org/mapping/recommended-music-for-maps/.waiting/.attic/
To include one:
- put the ogg file in sound/cdtracks
- change your mapinfo cdtrack like to "cdtrack trackname" (only official maps have to use numbers there)
- put the source file somewhere too, or offer it separately on a permanent download location
