It's a command-line downloader. That's its sole purpose. It's downloading a precompiled/downloaded/updated version of msysgit, containing everything needed to compile xonotic. I couldn't get the net installer or the portable version to work correctly, so I compiled it myself and compressed it into 7z format. As far as I know, it does. At the very least, the download location has worked for the last 3 or 4 days or so. I'll check it again in a sec. If you know a site that is free and supports direct linking, please tell me and I can make the changes if it becomes a problem

The thread focus has kind of shifted a little, but I'm waiting to repost until I'm sure all the kinks are worked out of my scripts

Just checked again, and it doesn't. If you know of any sites that do, please let me know!
DropBox is free (for 2GB, or 8GB if you recommend people), and supports direct linking.

Sweetness, thanks man! It'll be a couple of days before I can get it redone-- I'll be moving into college, and I've got this camp thing from monday to wednesday, but as soon as I can get to a computer or get mine hooked up, I'll get the thing fixed.

RE: A Simple Pre-release? - Mr. Bougo - 07-04-2010

I'm working on the adaptation of the nexuiz svn builder... Added git and wget and other stuff on top of it, I'm currently looking into making a self-extracting 7z out of it. It should be a single 20-ish (that's twenty-ish) megabyte archive that un7zips to something like 230 megabytes (yes, two hundred and thirty), with a single batch file to click to download and compile or update and compile, and another batch to run the game.

Your system is far from ideal now, as it requires a lot of user interaction and the download isn't well-compressed (190 megabytes)

EDIT: I adapted the nexuiz build system: http://forums.xonotic.org/showthread.php?tid=666
