So... you want the source files?

Here they are!

RE: Startup image - rainerzufalldererste - 07-19-2010

now I uploaded the sources and no one cares!

RE: Startup image - Halogene - 07-19-2010

Didn't notice you did that. Cool move, thx for sharing that work! I'd love to see it included in default Xonotic!

RE: Startup image - rainerzufalldererste - 07-22-2010

could any admin add it to the game?
I think it looks better then the current Tongue

RE: Startup image - toneddu2000 - 07-22-2010

good work! I liked it very much!

RE: Startup image - Halogene - 07-23-2010

*bump*

Maybe you need to promote it on freenode's IRC channel #xonotic...

Yes, you do. Bug some dev about it, I'll likely forget to do that by the time I'm home. Tongue

(when I'm home you can bug me too, I'll happily commit to git)

RE: Startup image - rainerzufalldererste - 07-25-2010

FruitieX...could you...please..commit it to git? Big Grin

er..I was wrong: I loved it! Smile Smile

RE: Startup image - divVerent - 07-26-2010

We cannot make this depend on widescreen/notwidescreen.

Because of this, I'd rather suggest having the image fade out all the way to alpha (NOT to black!) at the borders.

Can that be done?

RE: Startup image - Halogene - 07-26-2010

Btw, would you mind updating the image so that the Xonotic logo, which has changed a bit, is current? That would be cool.

RE: Startup image - rainerzufalldererste - 07-26-2010

@divVerent er... yeah, I know what Alpha is, but I dont know how to do something like that in Photoshop

RE: Startup image - theShadow - 07-26-2010

could you make a short flash movie, and use that as the into? (I have flash, and could do a simple fade in/fade out or whatever.)

RE: Startup image - Roanoke - 07-26-2010

Definitely not flash. Perhaps other formats, but I do not know which.

Thanks, rainerzufalldererste, for providing the GPL source Smile

As for the alpha thing here's how I've done it on gimp with your psd (I can provide the modified file if you want), probably on photoshop it's similar:
  • The top layer contains the border gradient to black: hide that layer entirely.
  • Copy the contents of the layer you've just hidden.
  • Right click on the bottom layer (the background) and choose "add alpha mask". The alpha should be all white (opaque).
  • Edit its newly created alpha mask and paste the gradient.
  • In Gimp the borders of the background are now fading to alpha, maybe on photoshop it may need some more tweaking.

Hope this is helping Smile and good work!

RE: Startup image - Halogene - 07-26-2010

If that works the way you said, you just made ME very happy because I have been trying to make that work for quite a long time.

It does work, don't worry Big Grin

What exactly happens when in widescreen and when not? Is the image stretched or zoomed and centered, and how? I haven't yet understood how that would work...

@tankmiche didn't read your post Sad sry
tried it out different

That's ok, you've got it right: alpha gradient on the far left and right of the image.

I think divVerent wanted to remove the whole black gradient to have it replaced with alpha gradient though...

RE: Startup image - rainerzufalldererste - 07-28-2010

Could it now be committed to git by divVerent or FruitieX?

RE: Startup image - DiaboliK - 07-28-2010

No, you still haven't used the right logo.

RE: Startup image - rainerzufalldererste - 07-29-2010

THAT IS THE RIGHT LOGO!!!
I only added some white light to make it more *POP* like!

RE: Startup image - kuniu the frogg - 07-29-2010
