[NEED HELP] Joystick - Controller works but i keep spinning - Printable Version

Joystick - Controller works but i keep spinning - Regnbuebork - 08-02-2025

So using the Xonotic-SDL and  a PS4 controller, i tried to play xonotic on my new thinkcentre i have plugged into my tv. The controller works fine but it keeps turning by itself, i tried to configure it through the input settings but there is no look section in it nor can i map anything using the right joystick and i dont know which joy{number} it could be. ive searched all over the internet and here for help but nothing popped up.

Since very few players use gamepads, the setting for them are not included in the menu. This issue has been reported and fixed, but the fix has not yet landed in a release. You can either use an autobuild version (generally quite stable, but might have some bugs) or set the "joy_axis*" cvars to the values given in https://gitlab.com/xonotic/xonotic-data.pk3dir/-/issues/1947 (either in the in-game console or the advanced settings).

On so now i was able to fix it after restarting the game, now the right stick functions perfectly, however now the game wont let me bind the left nor right trigger buttons.

For most modern gamepads, the triggers are not buttons, but axes. This means that the engine doesn't see them as buttons and doesn't allow you to bind them. If you switch to an autobuild version, there is special handling for triggers for gamepads that have the "standard" XBox/PS layout. You probably need to reset the "joy_axis*" cvars after that.
