Dedicated Server prompt starts, remains blank for a few seconds then closes. - Netmad - 10-31-2026

Hello, I've been trying to start a Dedicated Server on Xonotic for a bit now.
Ran into a strange issue, though I've copied the batch file from the 'server' directory to where the executables' main directory is, as well as the CFG one to it's own. All it does upon starting up is as described above: runs, for a little bit anyways, but outputs nothing on the window, then suddenly closes by itself.
No messages as far as I can see on each startup, thought it was a permissions issue, moving the installation to my C: drive did nothing to mitigate that.
Didn't find anything close to this for the time I looked around, I'm not even through the first test despite having the necessary port forwarded.

Closing after a few seconds means it can't find your server.cfg, that should be created/copied in C:\Users\<yourusername>\Saved Games\xonotic\data

I don't know why there'd be no text visible, there should always be a bunch (and in this case a message about creating server.cfg). It just uses the standard windows command terminal so maybe there's something wrong with that on your machine.

If I'm not mistaken, had there been issues with Command Prompt, I'd have been able to fish them out a long time ago, since I've hosted dedicated servers for other games before and had to use it on those occasions. I do not doubt the claim, but at the same time, I have no idea where to begin looking if the issue really is on my end.
