Nexrun CTS - asyyy - 12-03-2010

To keep it short:
Will xonotic contain the nexrun cts gamemode?

RE: Nexrun CTS - ThePWTULN - 12-03-2010

Yes, but I think "Nexrun" is going to be renamed to "Xonotic ProMode"

RE: Nexrun CTS - asyyy - 12-04-2010

I just checked, its called "Race CTS" and works great with as well XPM as NexrunCTS (from zzz_252_nexrunpatch_v4) physics. The only difference between XPM and NexrunCTS physics seems to be stepheight anyway (XPM: 26, Nexrun: 34) atm. I wonder if that turns some maps into impossible challenges.. those I tested worked fine though (mainly pornstar and vanilla).
I hope there gonna be a way to keep records when converting from nex->xon. As for now everyone shows up as "Unregistered player".
Are there any changes made to physics which aren't part of physics*.cfg?

Just... don't use this pack with Xonotic okay? :p

Nope. Defrag uses a similar stepheight (24 or something), so all maps should be doable in XPM.

No. The weapons have changed quite massively since I'm going to try to use the vanilla Xonotic weapons instead and hope that people accept these.
Hunting down all the affected maps would be a pain in the ass. Besides, the UID system is very different, so it wouldn't really be possible to "convert" the records in any way.

Unregistered Player means that the player did not accept sending/storing his/her name to the server and displaying it in the rankings. There is a dialog that asks you this when you first join a CTS server. (it has to be opt in for privacy reasons). Might later on make this a serverside setting to allow hiding all unregistered players.

Nope. Nothing that should affect XPM anyway.

Thanks, that clears things up for me. Only about the cts config:

Hey xonotic doesn't include a weapon balance config for race cts atm. And I'm too lazy to create one from scratch by myself. I didn't use anything beside of the .cfg files from that pk3 ofc Smile

Thats an interesting approach. I really hope xonotic includes decent configs for race cts so I don't have to install a 3rd party mod on my server. In yesterdays build, when starting a cts server via the "create" tab I ended up with having a fully functional laser. Which makes cts gameplay a little stupid :p
