Helo, I am a software engineer/programmer/geek and would like to help Xonotic.
My background is mostly in enterprise web/database development, but I have C++ 3D development experience with my own libraries and OpenSceneGraph.
I haven't work with the quake, or the darkplaces engine.
But, I am willing to learn.
I also have system admin experience with Linux, Winblows, and Mac OS/X (BSD).

Welcome. Good to see people wanting to help. I just hope you can understand that right now there is a lot of activity due to finishing a beta of Xonotic and the 1.0 release later. So please do not be disappointed if it takes a while of people to "get to you". For people wanting to help i would suppose its the best to just join the #xonotic channels on quakenet and 'pickup from there'
Also currently there are tutorials created on how to do stuff (create maps, models, code..) so just take a look around, take a look at dev.xonotic.org and ask around on irc. For the time being that will be the most efficient way to help :-)
