Feature - Download map in online - wido - 01-26-2011
Hello,
Will there be a feature to see if the map is already present in the game during online game, for those who have a small connection, or they are limited in quantity (GB per month) would be useful not?

I'm not quite sure what are you asking for, but there's already a map download feature. The map is downloaded once and then stored in data/dlcache.

I think he wants to be able to see from the server list if he has all the maps that are available on the server to avoid possible downloads..

I think at the very least there should be a checkbox to "DOWNLOAD MAPS" that defaults to being checked in xonotic under the "Network" tab.
If a player does not want to download new maps he can uncheck the checkbox.

Yeah, that'd be best option. Counter-Strike has it, and OpenArena (i think) too. If there's a cvar for it, it should be on the menu.

In Tremulous a window pops up if you don't have a map, asking whether you want to download the map or disconnect from the server.
I'm not sure whether this is a better or worse solution than the one posted above though.
