Spontanous voices on the battlefield - unfa - 02-19-2011 Hi! I have another idea! This time it's about voices. I think that it would be really cool to make random things being said by different characters in different situations. The best I can do is give you an example: Distress (getting hurt): Quote:"Oh 5h1+!" Victory upon a player (fragging, freezeing): Quote:"Ha-ha!" Victory upon a team (getting a point): Quote:"Bunch of loosers!" Random stuff to mumble while walking around: Quote:"Can I have rest, please?" While passing by a teammate: Quote:"How it's fraggin'?" While standing by a teammate: Quote:"Are you new here? I don't remember your face" While camping: Quote:"What am I doin' here?" There could be a variable to determine frequency of those random things getting said (I'd make it rather rare so If there are 10 people on the server, you don't here too much of talking). I'd say that those should be said in a frequency ranging from 1/ 2 hours to 2/hour (0.5/h ~ 2/h). So thy will be kept somewhat unique, not dominating the game, and adding nice little things. I'd love to record those, would be nice to find more actors (male and female) with some audio equipment who can record stuff in different styles and in an acceptable audio quality Just an idea to make the game have a little more atmosphere, be a little more interesting, and us have a little more fun from making it. Please share your thoughts, folks RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - theShadow - 02-19-2011 I like this idea. Unreal tournament 3 does this with it's bots, and it really helps to characterize them. However, it shouldn't be excessive. too much chatter woud get annoying fast, but it would be neat if they just occasionally shout taunts to each other. RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - Lee_Stricklin - 02-19-2011 That would be interesting if we could bring one of the only things Unreal Tournament III got right. RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - rainerzufalldererste - 02-20-2011 Nice Idea! Alone on the map Quote:Some one over here? After killing spree Quote:Yaay! ...no more ideas RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - RaptorFX - 02-20-2011 Hehe nice idea I think it would be funny to have a key for it. If you press the button a random message appears according to the ingame situation and dependent from the playermodel. Yeah. I completely agree. It should be a nice saucy addition to the game giving players some refreshing fun, but not dominating or daunting. So by default players would not have to care about that, and their character would sometimes just say something randomly. Though more advanced players could switch to manual mode It would still be totally random though RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - Lee_Stricklin - 02-22-2011 Using a taunt system like this, we can basically establish players not getting killed when they're blown to bits, but merely teleported out of the arena like they are in Unreal Championship 2. For example: *player gets brutally gibbed* "I better run, he's gonna be pissed when he respawns" *respawned player* "RAWR!!!, YOUR ASS IS GRASS NOOB!!!" I wonder what the likelyhood of getting stuff like this in the game would be. I imagine the hard part would be finding voices, but I imagine there's got to be at least a little bit of coding to do as well. RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - The mysterious Mr. 4m - 02-24-2011 "My ass is on fire!" would be pretty funny, because it's something one'd rather expect to hear in a gay porno movie, along with some other of those quotes.... "My Ass is on Fire" is a song by Mr. Bungle But I think it would be a nice thing to hear in the game. RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - .Danny. - 03-02-2011 What about people saying this on microphone? Like "i have allergies, don't shoot me". RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - Sepelio - 03-03-2011 Don't forget the classic: "ARGH! My face my beautiful face!" and of course "GAY))" RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - .Danny. - 03-03-2011 (03-03-2011, 02:19 PM)Sepelio Wrote: Don't forget the classic: i don't like that. The code implemention shouldnt be too hard (no idea, I jsut guess so ) RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - theShadow - 03-19-2011 I could make start doing a couple experimental voice recordings. maybe we should make a thread to post all of the accumulated voice recordings people do. When I do them, I am going to choose one playermodel, and do all the voices for that player, so 4 or 5 (or more) from each of the categories unfa posted. then the voices can be organized into groups, with different player models told to only draw from the specific group for that player. maybe we should use "GAAAAY" for when you get a frag, just to confuse people. also, .Danny Wrote:That's homophobic You're homophobic :p RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - TheLastProject - 03-19-2011 Sounds rather useless and annoying. At least with a "turn off" button, please. RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - mepper[NoSkillsOnlyLuck] - 03-19-2011 Sounds like that could be very funny, but it is important that the player you say it to, really can hear that. Maybe we should make it possible to turn it off, some people don't like this (but I do ) Also make some when fighting against more enemies at once: Diediediedie you motherf***ers! Come here! I'll pump your ass full with lead! (This things should not be said, they should be screamed ass loud as possible in the microphone ) Anyway, fantastic idea, Unfa! RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - theShadow - 03-19-2011 it could probably be put in as a volume option. like "dialogue volume". and if you dont want it, you can just put it to zero. RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - vede - 03-19-2011 Yes, this is a good idea. I know this was in Nexuiz ("Watch your fire!" is something I unfortunately hear occasionally), so it's definitely not hard to implement. I also like the idea of using it as a way to establish the idea that no one's actually being killed, just temporarily removed from the arena. (I'm one of the types who plays deathmatch games but doesn't like killing or guns or whatnot.) I don't think the characters should act like they know they're in a game, though. ("He'll be pissed when he gets back!" is okay, but "respawns" is probably too far.) Maybe this should be part of a little menu on the HUD? Something I remember from UT is how pressing a key (I think V) would pop up a little bar at the side of the screen with some categories like "Taunts" and "Commands" and "Warnings", and you'd press one of their corresponding keys, and then it'd change to individual messages within the category you chose, and your character would say the message you chose. This idea could be combined with a "Allow automatic taunts" that would let your character do taunts on his own on occasion, otherwise the taunts would just never happen (peeps be too busy fraggin'). RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - DarkRedman - 03-19-2011 Nice idea ! RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - unfa - 03-20-2011 I like the idea to give it another mixer strip (or plug it under some that exists already), but I don't like the idea of making if too gentle ("aw, you clumsy boy!") Just... this game is about killing each other, and as I can't (and don't want to) kill anyone in real life, I like the over-soaked illusion of bad things happening in the game It's unreal, and so I like it. I might suggest that players are really dying on the arena, but they have been digitally and atom-precisely scanned, and they are just reproductions created by a machine so they can die several times and original player is living along. The figter is just a new, identical replica of their body placed on the arena again. Brutal and wicked sport of the future? Maybeh! No, I didn't care about their souls RE: Spontanous voices on the battlefield - kojn^ - 03-21-2011 There's maybe 6 in the opening post that would make sense/be professional to use, the others I wouldn't touch with a bargepole. Good idea though. |
