RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - bitbomb - 12-12-2011

Updated 0013b if you heard it earlier, should have waited to post it, it's about twice the length now.

0013b was kind of the main contribution in this post, since it's the result of some batting ideas and other works in progress around with Morphed (though he hasn't heard this one yet), trying to hone in on the Xonotic sound. The other ones are just side dishes, and one that's totally wrong (0001). So if 0013b is way off the Xonotic mark, definitely let me know and I'll go back to the drawing board. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Cool, thanks, I'll check that out.

(12-10-2011, 05:56 AM)jaykay Wrote: unfortunately, both are quite short, too short.

Of course they are, that's typical of works in progress. I'm posting them to see which I should finish, and which I should abandon.

(12-11-2011, 05:18 PM)unfa Wrote: bitbomb: notice that Soundcloud have track downloads disabled by default (I couldn't get any of your tracks into my ears because of that...)

Ah, thanks man, I'll change that right now. Must be disabled by default. Thanks!

Badass as always, man. Nice and atmospheric. And I half expect to hear some vinyl pops in the background of the heavier drumline with the clap/snare combined.

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - jaykay - 12-13-2011

in my opinion 0013b ist not backgroundish enough, mainly because of those fancy drums. i think 2.08 - 2.35 is just perfect, it's a bit like 0011b2, energetic and not too much in the foreground.

Ah, I just realized that tune called "nearfar sofar its unfar" is dedicated to me Big Grin
Thanks chooksta! Big Grin Btw I really love the title!

Sounds fun, hopefully I can get some time this weekend to work on some stuff to submit, thanks for the hugely typed reminder, dude!!

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - Smilecythe - 12-20-2011

Did not know there was thread like this Big Grin I do lost of different kind of music and heres little of everything:

Smilecythe - Häntäluustasi lasagnea (gabber): http://www.mikseri.net/artists/smilecythe/hantaluustasi-lasagnea/392296/
Smilecythe - Surplus (dark ambience): http://www.mikseri.net/artists/smilecythe/surplus/412558/

SocialSmile - Toilethole is full again (industrial metal): http://soundcloud.com/socialsmile/socialsmile-toilethole-is-full
SocialSmile - Stalker Kinkki (thrash metal): http://soundcloud.com/socialsmile/socialsmile-stalker-kinkki

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - D_W - 12-26-2011

"Stalker Kinkki" would be a good fit for the game. It has a lot of engery and sounds like it would be fun to play too. However I think the mix could use some work on it. I'll need to listen to it more to really give solid feedback on what exactly it could use to make it just that extra bit better.

"Surplus" would also work. It probably fits with more of the existing music already.

I'm not sure how either loop.

As for the others I don't think they would work for the game.

Excellent work guys. Also that t-travel track is probably one of your best tracks ever composed Chooksta.

Stalker Kinkki and Toilethole are actually part of our soundtrack playlist for my own game project. Others here are more like experiments or hobbies. Thanks for putting your time to listening to them Smile

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - rafallus - 01-29-2012

Nexuiz 2.5.2 has lots of good music that haven't been reused yet (aggressor, runningman, skyway, starship, darkzone, warfare, downer). In fact, I just downloaded it again for the sake of reminding myself some of it.

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - Mr. Bougo - 01-29-2012

AFAIK we don't want to avoid reusing Nexuiz content.

EDIT: although I guess remixing wouldn't be out of question! Actually that may be a fine idea, to ask our current musicians to remix old Nexuiz music. Better discuss it with the core team first though?

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - Lee_Stricklin - 01-29-2012

blkrbt made some tracks for Nexuiz that haven't been used by either project:

sixtyfour revisited (came with Nexuiz 2.5.1, but wasn't used by any maps that I know of)
variable (unused and not included with any game)

Don't get me started on:

SC0RP's Xonotic Theme (In my opinion one of the most epic themes composed and a better menu track that Rising of the Phoenix due to it giving you a good impression of what the game will be like and being about the right length for someone to hear when setting up their graphics options and input bindings the first time they run the game. I have the source for this track if needed.)
SC0RP's Space Raiders (Best track to use if anyone ever considers doing a map similar to UT99's AS-Highspeed. I also have the source to this if needed.)

If recycling Nexuiz content IS an option, then these tracks really should be considered for Xonotic:

thru the mirror (While I'd say the track quiet does the Bleach remake justice and is in my opinion a better track for that map, I simply cannot picture Downer not having thru the mirror playing. It's quite possibly the best track one can hear for their first game.)
infight (Pretty much REQUIRED if the map Strength gets ported over or included with Xonotic. I can' picture any other tracks suiting it well.)
brainsucker (One of my favorites. One of the best tracks for long lasting fights that may or may not take a while to pick up in intensity.)
calling bogus (Maybe)
digital pursuit (Hell why not? lol)

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - Mirio - 01-30-2012

All these Nexuiz tracks = MEMORIES!!! Thanks god I'm playing without music anyway, could not concentrate with so much memories. Sad
Best tracks btw.

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - [CCC]KINGSHOT[CCC] - 02-01-2012

The second one is great but I think I already told you somewhere else.
I also like the third one.

I second this.

IMO rising of the Phoenix needs to be made "cinematic", then it could be in the storyline for the last mission or something. Rising of the Phoenix is a part of xonotic's identity now, and it's nice, so it shouln't be removed from xonotic. Varations on the theme for sound events (such as beating a stage in story mode) would be nice too.

RE: MUSIC THREAD FOR ALL MUSIC - Smilecythe - 02-11-2012

Smilecythe - Penetrating Breeze (Industrial): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhHC5ULB9ZE

A song highly inspired by Sonic Mayhem (Sascha Dikiciyan), the creator of Quake 2 and 3 OST. This is supposed to be a menu soundtrack for a game called Subvein, still and been a long time pending approval and feedback from the game's creator. Comment and crit from here would be appreciated!
