[CTF] Lightspeed - WIP constantly! - CuBe0wL - 06-04-2011

Yo!

So, here's another Nexuiz remake/restyle from me: Pick'em up is now know as:
Lightspeed

Link will change when new version is out, look for this post every time I "up" this thread.

Screenshots at map-compile server (something is broken there only in trasnparent textures, should be ok at local).
The map is not finished yet, but I'm releasing it for playtesting, because item placement is finished. Or rather, I'm opened for suggestions. Yes, the spawnpoints are switched for a reason.
Be warned, this map is a 1on1 CTF map (!) or max. 2on2.

New version up in first post!
This release brings even more eye- and ear candy to the map, and a small change with lowered ceiling towards the middle.

It is one of the purposes of the map. Like I've said, it's only max. 2v2. Ut2k4 has an even more simplier CTF map.

So I was working on sum dome for the map. I'm stuck now at making those grate and glass textures act transparent. Those are exactly the same shaders as dome brushes and patches use. No idea what's wrong here -_-

oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see where you said "nexuiz remake"

although, the idea I had for layout was to make the room with the computers and stuff a room you could go in to, and make it 2 levels, so you could then go up some stairs to join the upper hallway. (then mirror it on the other side, possibly with different details, but the same basic layout.)

Ok, another worth to note update. There's still some work to do eg. on player clipping, and adding more lights etc.
I ask you to TEST it gameplay wise.

I can 't include the soundtrack yet chooky mate, however it is uploaded to git already, and the merge request has been done also. I'll have to remind the core team about this.

Again new version.
Notable changes: proper hinting, so FPS should be a bit better. Cubemapped reflections on water when reflections are off. And some new details.

there is no way sensation3 can fit to lightspeed. i didnt play it, but thay are like day and night.

keywords i associate with sensation3:
dark, scary, mysterious, maybe a bit spooky, quite slow, lots of atmosphere.

lightspeed
colorful, happy, some nature (water, grass, tree), fast, closed, small.

i guess you got the point Smile

I think just the opposite, the same stuff with you've described sensation3.
I wouldn't call a map that has broken celing, blast marks on walls, blood on the floor and overall a slowly decaying amosphere colorful and happy.
The background of the map supposed to be a long abandoned researching laboratory of a larger facility on a remote jungle planet. Nobody knows now what happened there really, but it had to happen at least a few years ago (nature seems to take back it's territory), and everybody was killed.

lol , a funny convo here , yea , sensation3 is a bleak/dark tune , but the way the beat drops could highlight some more positive sections of the map along the way , who knows???????
but yer , if everyone got killed , then that would be a positive thing ,, happy , etc
