Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Hypnotix-2000 - 03-22-2012

The track: Surge
Me: Hypnotix-2000
Here is the link for the track
http://soundcloud.com/h_y_p_n_o_t_i_x_20...ic/s-0dJGY

My apologies if this has been answered already.

I made this tune while back specifically for 'soundtrack' application - when I started playing Xonotic (and previously Nexuiz) I thought this would be a good fit for a map or in general theme (would love to get feedback from others) ...

How do I upload? Xonotic Soundcloud or do I create my own account?

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Mr. Bougo - 03-22-2012

As you wish! Be aware that a requirement to contribute music to xonotic is to give out the sources (typically project files and samples used), under the terms of the GPLv2.

Posting to the Xonotic soundcloud group will not automatically make your track considered for inclusion. This thread is old but stickied, I guess you could post here: http://forums.xonotic.org/showthread.php?tid=1021

EDIT: Also, welcome!

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Hypnotix-2000 - 03-22-2012

You process MOD Plug files? If so, by all means...
Dear Mr. Bougo
Thank you for the welcome note!
Here is the link... can you confirm that it is audible?

Also, soundcloud does not let me upload the original format - How to post the actual (*.it) Impulse-Tracker file?

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Mr. Bougo - 03-22-2012

Host it somewhere, preferably with a direct link. This is often used http://ompldr.org/hide (that URL hides the thumbnails of the most downloaded recent files, which are often porn; keep that in mind if you visit the site later without that /hide !)
The program you use doesn't really matter (as long as the samples are GPL-compatible), so the format doesn't either. Just provide the usual format for the software so that further modifications are as possible as they can get.

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - rocknroll237 - 03-22-2012

Definitely got a 90s feel to it. Not quite what I expected from something that's going to be used in Xonotic, but it's good nonetheless.

Hypnotix-2000,

Welcome in Xonotic community!

I'm one of musicians who stick with this project and I'm [url=making some tracks for the game (1 successfull track, but I'm not done yet!).

I love the kind of sound you have here. I'd add some more dirty sounds to it, maybe some more broken, syncopated rhythms, to break the 90's-techno-feel, but that's just my dubstepped, breakbeated unfa.

Anyway, what software do you use?

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Mr. Bougo - 03-23-2012

He uses MODPlug Tracker Wink

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - hutty - 03-23-2012

Nice sound ... i do concern about the fact that it is non seamless... Its easy to tell when the song ends and starts up again ... something not desirable for most video game musics ...

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Hypnotix-2000 - 03-23-2012

,Hey thanks for the comments folks... so yes I use a MOD Tracker (which was meant for video game music/soundtracks - back in the time of the Amiga)

I can definitely try to make changes but it will need time. For now I have submitted the track for consideration so let's see. I also need to learn using LMMS which, as I have seen, has funkier sounds/synths built-in and does not need exclusive sample import. Definitely something for ongoing composition needs Big Grin

To UNFA - will check out your tracks for sure! Probably already have during game play? Big Grin

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Morphed - 03-24-2012

i think that xonotic engine can play some amiga mods directly, which is great because instead of 5mb ogg custom map can use 400kb .it or .mod for own music Smile

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Mr. Bougo - 03-24-2012

Morphed: uh? Never heard of that one Confused

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - .Danny. - 03-24-2012

Listening to the track now. A reason for me not to just play UT and quake OST in the backgrounds instead of default xonotic soundtrack. So liking the track basicly.

+1 from me.

@ Hypnotix-2000

Awesome track! This would go perfect with that lab map that Mircea Kitsune put together (large scale DM map with warp zones all over the place... need to find the link).

EDIT: Found the map link!

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Hypnotix-2000 - 03-28-2012

Hey Lee_Stricklin,
If you wanna use the track for the map, go ahead... many thanks! Would love to download this map and try it out myself for a DM!

RE: Question: Wish to contribute my music track for Xonotic - Lee_Stricklin - 03-28-2012

lol not my map, it's actually one that was put together by Mircea Kitsune (the same guy that did Red Planet). I thought it was a good example to use for maps that this track would go well with.

Oh I got that don't worry Smile lol
I was thanking you (the user/gamer) for considering the track as working well for a map.
