Soooooo...

Ubuntu 12.04 is shit. Period. X server constantly crashes which seems to be a very common issue, though there is no fix for this. Oh dear!

The solution: Switched back to Ubuntu 10.10. Works solid as a rock again! Big Grin

Samual used those exact words to describe 12.04... Big Grin

RE: Desktop screenshots - Maddin - 08-07-2012

At least that´s the case for desktop computers. For Laptops and Netbooks 12.04 is fine.

RE: Desktop screenshots - Minkovsky - 08-08-2012

I seem to have no problems on 12.04. Though I am looking forward to Wayland.

Somebody should make a Wayland WM called "Yutani". Just sayin'.

Minimal.
Ubuntu 12.04

I've never had X crash since 11.10 came out, i wonder if it's an NVIDA specific issue.

That's not a desktop screenshot Tongue

RE: Desktop screenshots - Maddin - 10-04-2012

Well the issue with the X.org server seems to be a problem with graphic cards (mainly nvidia I suppose)... but I won´t bother about that topic anymore as I now use Gentoo for my further installations. Ubuntu (at least the newer versions, the old ones were great) finally has failed as I am concerned.

Some screeny to get ontopic...

Still Ubuntu 10.10 though Tongue

It's less boring because my background is a solid colour.

RE: Desktop screenshots - hutty - 10-10-2012

I have had issues with gnome3 crashing on my mint 12 system ...

anyways....
mine has changed a little ...
made the new background in krita ... (krita is great ... if your into digital painting )

I'm planning on updating to mint 13 as soon as I can get a HD to back everthing up on ...

then I am planning on making an entirely custom desktop theme ...

Indeed, that image width is excessive.

RE: Desktop screenshots - machine! - 10-11-2012

Minimal as in visuals is nice, but i prefer minimal as in the whole OS! Wink

RE: Desktop screenshots - hutty - 10-12-2012

>.< how do I thumbnail it? ....

RE: Desktop screenshots - machine! - 10-12-2012

Edit it in a image editor and make a thumbnail ver., or take both a screenshot and a thumbnail ver. at the same time, I think you can do that with several screenshot programs like scrot and imagemagick, just install one of them and "man scrot" or "man imagemagick"! Wink

RE: Desktop screenshots - hutty - 10-12-2012

>.< I know how to scale down an image

I just didn't understand how to set the click thumbnail thing ...

anyways I figured it out.... edited post

RE: Desktop screenshots - asyyy - 10-13-2012

You can also use tinypic.com to create a thumbnail (choose Resize -> Thumbnail).
