I have an idea how to help push the cup forward. Let's pick (actually asyyy should pick - so nobody questions this choice) some recurring (1 day in a week) day when all teams should be online for a good couple of hours (like saturday morning or thursday afternoon, or whatever, most teams are from europe so this won't be much of a timezone issue). And on these days it will be much easier to setup matches between any teams.
The current setup (let all teams setup playing dates between themselves) doesn't seem to work out too good IMHO. The way it's coming I don't think we'll see the end of the cup before 2013 :-P.
