XP system for stats - cccxd - 09-02-2012

Hi all

What are You thinking about adding xp system and leveling for xonotic stats.
Something like xp system in gunz.

U'll gain 4 xp for kill someone with max 5 level less
and lost 3 xp for death when killed by someone with max 5 levels more.


good player will be only leveling for owning another goods players and gain nothing for killing noobs.
it'll be better for balance teams and search for good serwers for both noobs and pro.

also
2 level - 20xp
3 level - 40xp
4 level - 80xp
5 level - 160xp
...

Hi! Well you know, we have something similar already with our elo system: You gain or lose elo points after each match, depending on your performance against the other players. Their elo is taken into account in this calculation, too, which means that you gain more points if you win against a good player than you do if you win against someone with far less points than yourself.

Btw, the ranking system in xonstat uses this elo system, too.

I don't know if it would be too much, but I think it would be cool to sort player's into tiers by the range of their ELO
like
Tier 1 : 100 - 200
Tier 2 : 200 - 500
Tier 3 : 500 - 700
Tier 4 : 700+

That is currently being talked about, too. It is called "ladders", and afaik Antibody is working on that already Smile


btw Shadowman, your badge in your sig is cut off because it is too large. I suggest to either use a table and put the text beside it (like me), or use the "minimal" badge instead =)

I´m not a big fan of your idea cccxd, Xonotic is a pure FPS not some kind of RPG or CoD copy. Wink I´m very happy that Xonotic is just about the skill of the player and not about the equipment of his character.

Tiers feel too restiricting to me.

IMO match making should be based around the mean ELO of players would be more effective.

For instance if somebody joined a DM pub thier ELO would have to be within a certian range determined by the mean ELO of players on the server to play.

It's fine as it is imo. If the system ain't broke, don't fix it. XP isn't needed as there is not Xonotic upgrade system or anything similar. Thank god!
