My keyboard is a current-day 101 key Unicomp Model M which uses buckling springs, but I primarily use the keypad when I'm gaming. It's still pretty nice. Been thinking about grabbing a mechanical keyboard though. I do lots of typing (code) and some gaming so I suppose I'd benefit. I'd like short travel and not a crazy loud click, so brown switches sound good no?
