thats a nice, clean space skymap.
edit: it's a bit too clean Smile

but you can easily see that the galaxies are inserted from another picture. additionally it is not realistic that you can see two galaxies from any point in space Big Grin

So how did NASA shoot photographs of galaxy clusters?

RE: Fireplanet Skybox - jaykay - 04-28-2010

i said two galaxies. and as far as i know the characters don't run around the map with the hubble-telescope in front of their eyes...

RE: Fireplanet Skybox - Rad Ished - 04-28-2010

Jaykay are you saying that in all of creation and infinite space there is nowhere that there are two or more galaxies close together? Rolleyes

With The Naked Eye,

Quote:Milky Way Galaxy - Our Galaxy
Large Magellanic Cloud - Only in southern latitudes
Small Magellanic Cloud - Only in southern latitudes
Andromeda Galaxy - Appears as a faint smudge, best seen in the Northern Hemisphere
Triangulum Galaxy
Sculptor Galaxy
Bode's Galaxy
Centaurus A - Probably the furthest galaxy at 13.7 million light years
Messier 83 - Highly unlikely but has been reported to be seen.

As I said it's my first skybox and I'm a beginner in Photoshop. I will edit it again if i have more time. But I'm not an astronomer Wink and I not care about if it is realistic or not as far as it looks nice Wink and I don't think that players really care about^^

That are just brushes to show shadows.

I agree, it's a hypothetical universe, so it can be as quirky as we want. Either way, Nexuiz was never known for it's true-to-life realism, and by the looks of it, Xonotic isn't going that way either Big Grin

RE: Fireplanet Skybox - Roanoke - 04-29-2010

Of course, we've established that it is quite possible. Why are the planets exaggerated ovals?

They aren't. That comes with the viewing angle I made the screen with.

RE: Fireplanet Skybox - Roanoke - 05-01-2010

For future reference, use FOV 90 or just post the image not as an in game screen.
