It would be cool if we have few new models to the game.

There are some nice proposals in his concept art!

Do you have contact to this artist or did you ask him about creating models for Xonotic? Would he license his work under GPLv2 so we can include them officially?

Fantastic art work. The main thing Xonotic needs is models with personality and if any new models are based on these concepts it would certainly fulfill that criteria.

RE: Xonotic Player models - Mr. Bougo - 09-15-2013

Don't do anything before contacting the author though.

And make sure to ask divVerent or merlijn what is needed to make models based on non-GPL concept art GPL-compliant.

RE: Xonotic Player models - zeroql - 09-15-2013

i am not doing anything, and i think he only draws stuff... he dosent know how to make models ...only concept art.

RE: Xonotic Player models - Mr. Bougo - 09-15-2013

Sure. I thought that was what you meant in your first post. This guy presents himself as a concept artist, so I wouldn't expect him to be a modeler.

That doesn't change that a model built from concept art constitutes a derivative work, which means that we need explicit permission to license a derivative work as GPL. That's why I'm suggesting to talk to divVerent or merlijn first.
