It's a totally non-transparent process involving evil minded open-source game supporters.
Last time we actually had a open community nomination process on freegamedev.net, but this time we slacked off a bit and thus came up with a list of our own. Who is we... well just some volunteers behind a few Linux and open-source gaming news sites (see list on the page). The idea to (re-) create these awards comes from the cool Linux game data base (lgdb.org).
