People sometimes do not realize they have the flag, mostly while passing, so there should some extra notification for that. Visual or sound.

Lol I'm the opposite. Sometime I think I have it, cap and then wtf? So we also need one for when you get close to the flag but don't grab it. You don't have the flag?

There is a sound for passing, but it is a bit quiet. Perhaps someone could create a better one?

I found that it happened to me quite often too. Like the icons aren't in my face enough. I don't recall how it worked in Nexuiz, can anyone remind us of that?

In Nexuiz you could not pass the flag.
If you picked it up the console said (like now) "NICK got the COLOR flag" and the icons had same size.
If someone passes the flag to you, there is a centerprint but it's too much text IMO (iirc: Your teammate XXX passed the COLOR flag to you! blablblalbalbla) and they are a lot centerprints anyway.
My suggestion would be an annoucer for picking up the flag at any time:
- You got the COLOR flag
- You picked up the flag
- etc.

Or maybe something like gong, something that would stand out from the usual mayhem.
