Adding maps to server - BuddyFriendGuy - 10-17-2015 I have been putting maps that I like onto my server. A few of the maps were converted by me from other quake maps, but most of them came from other servers -- I just grabbed them from my dlcache. Is this disrespectful for the admins of these servers? Also, is it bad for the community that different servers have similar map sets? Nope go ahead although there are some things you can do for maps you convert that would make it a pain in the ass for someone to use them on their server. RE: Adding maps to server - Mario - 10-19-2015 Depends on the map, in my opinion. If it has logos for a specific server, or something like that, it's probably best not to use it elsewhere, as they put the effort in to customise that map for their server (no copyright or anything, just common courtesy). As for servers sharing maps; Your collection has a lot of variety, players also like to see maps they recognise. Copying some of the standard maps from other servers can be a good thing. RE: Adding maps to server - BuddyFriendGuy - 10-20-2015 Thanks, both of you. I didn't realize there are site logos but I'll pay more attention. |
