Hello my fellow Xonotic'ers!

First of all I want to say thanks to everyone that has been able to participate in the previous Xonotic Winter Duel Cups. I was not that convinced in beginning of it, but it turned out to be rather popular as well as it generated some really close games for the viewers.

For some while ago me and thimo talked lightly about gathering the best Xonotic players possible and make an invite-tournament with some money in it but the idea more or less floated away during christmas/new-years holidays and Xonotic Winter Duel Cup tournaments in the weekends. However, now as we have talked through our ideas around this tournament as well gotten Mirio on it we decided we don't want to host an invitational-cup but instead have it for everyone in the community. Everyone should have a chance on the prizepool!Big Grin

We are really happy to announce Xonotic Duel World Cup 2016!

1. General

Join #xonotic.cup ( https://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=xonotic.cup )

1.1 Double Elimination

There will be a Winner Bracket and a Loser Bracket.
If you lose a match, you will drop to the Loser Bracket and continue playing.
If you lose again you are out of the tournament

1.2 Schedule

Saturday, 26th March 2016: Check-in: 17:00 CET | Tournament start: 18:00 CET | End: Once we reach Winner Bracket Semifinals // http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/
Sunday, 27th March 2016: Start: 15:00 CEST

If a player has to leave for some time, he has to message one of the admins! We will try to schedule his match a bit later then.

1.3 Demos
Admins can ask a player to give them their demos. If a player refuses to give them, a warn will be issued.

1.4 Registration
You can register from NOW until the tournament starts by a) posting here or b) messaging an admin or c) show up in #xonotic.cup at given date!

2. Matches organisation

2.1 How-to
Simple: Talk to your opponent (#xonotic.cup!) and play it on one of the follwing servers.

2.3 Map picking

Rounds before Winner Bracket Semifinal
- Best of 3 (Bo3) (= 2 map wins needed)
- Heads/Tails->Cointoss + Drop-Drop-Drop-Drop-Pick-Pick -> If it ends 1:1 the remaining map is the decider. No draws possible.

Winner Bracket Semifinal and follwing rounds
- Best of 5 (Bo5) (= 3 map wins needed)
- Heads/Tails->Cointoss + Drop-Drop-Pick-Pick-Pick-Pick -> If it ends 2:2 the remaining map is the decider. No draws possible.

Grand Final
- Best of 7 (Bo7) (= 4 map wins needed)
- WB Winner decalres a map he 'wins' and goes 1-0 up, LB winner picks 1st map. After that map loser will pick the next map.

Breakdown of "Heads/Tails->Cointoss + Drop-Drop-Drop-Drop-Pick-Pick"

1. One of the players chooses Heads or Tails
2. vcall cointoss
3. Cointoss winner removes a map
4. Cointoss loser removes a map
5. Cointoss winner removes a map
6. Cointoss loser removes a map
7. Cointoss winner picks the 1st map to be played
8. Cointoss loser picks the 2nd map to be played
[if 3rd map needed:]
9. Remaining map gets played!

2.4 Matches report
One of the players should write the result in #xonotic.cup please, preferable with a Stats URL.


3. In game play

3.1 Game format
- 1v1 Duel (XPM)
- Timelimit: 10
- Fraglimit: 0

3.2 Map pool

Aerowalk, Blood Run, Downer, Final Rage, Fuse, Silent Siege, Stormkeep

A match has to be played again if the players did not play it on one of these maps.

3.3 Forfeiting

You may forfeit during a match of course, without getting penalties.
Obviously the map or match will be lost.

4.2 Notes
  • The prize distribution will be finalised after the tournament.
  • The GPU is barely used and it's value lies between 50 USD -70 USD.
  • The Keyboard is brand new, unopened and worth about 120 USD

4.3 Donations
The prizepool is 620€ at the moment but it might grow as we keep it open so the community can donate to the prize pool if they want to.

Yeah, I'll fly down to where you are, forcibly install Steam on your machine, and give you the keys=) If you don't want the keys I can sell them on SCM and buy you a game on steam, or convert it to Paypal money (1.75$ per key minus Paypal transfer fee).

In a short time, we have gathered relatively many players for xonotic cup standards, so keep on signing up, folks! Also, spread the word, if you have retired or old xonoticcers lazy-assing around, let them know and lets get them back up playing!

Also, i wanna challenge some instagibbers to try out vanilla mod Smile I know its a big threshold to cross at first, you could rely on nex fine on your first games and do your insane 75% accuracies! =) Come in and show your aims Big Grin

Same bracket with double elimination. With 22 players participating you have to play at least 5 matches to win. Or 9 matches if you are unlucky in the first round=)

20 would be the limit for a group stage (Reversion Cup style), which is considered. But likely it will be a Double Elimination bracket.
