Mapping tutorials - tZork - 03-23-2010 Post your mapping tutorial links here. Basics: http://ingar.satgnu.net/gtkradiant/index.html#documentation http://www.clankiller.com/games/quake/gtkradianttut/ Other collections: http://alienTRAP.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9 http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=290 Videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Roq1EXxPc (thanks rocknroll237 for pointing that one out) Quote:And something that every mapper who wants to create competitive maps should read at least once: wviperw's competitive design guidehttp://www.goodstuffmaynard.com/portfolio/other/cdg/index.html RE: Mapping tutorials - Ang - 03-23-2010 Meh. I expected some links already posted by the topic starter. RE: Mapping tutorials - esteel - 03-23-2010 Things are just getting started.. isn't it more fun to participate then just see everything done already? There are quite some good links and posts in the "old" forum. Helping them getting "ported" over would be great :-) RE: Mapping tutorials - Ang - 03-23-2010 I'm quite new to the Nexuiz/Xonotic community, but I've played the game itself a lot last year. If anyone wants to port over those tutorials, that'd be great for me. RE: Mapping tutorials - Sepelio - 03-23-2010 Assuming mapping is the exact same as thegamethatshallnotbenamed then I'll maybe write a tutorial if I get the time. I promise it will be just as half assed as all my other work. RE: Mapping tutorials - esteel - 03-23-2010 Yeah its exactly the same.. RE: Mapping tutorials - Ang - 03-23-2010 I tried it today and failed horribly. Need more tutorials. RE: Mapping tutorials - cookie - 03-23-2010 No need for rewrites. http://ingar.satgnu.net/gtkradiant/index.html#documentation http://www.clankiller.com/games/quake/gtkradianttut/ There is enough documentation on internet. RE: Mapping tutorials - Sepelio - 03-23-2010 I'll make one for the basics anyway. I've already started it, might as well finish. RE: Mapping tutorials - Sepelio - 03-24-2010 On another note there is this thread on the AT forum. I think a fair number of the links are broken but it should provide some useful stuff: http://alienTRAP.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9 RE: Mapping tutorials - Strahlemann - 04-19-2010 http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=290 and something that every mapper who wants to create competitive maps should read at least once: wviperw's competitive design guide http://www.goodstuffmaynard.com/portfolio/other/cdg/index.html RE: Mapping tutorials - DJZelDarK - 05-13-2010 What is the difference between GTKRadiant and NetRadiant ? To create map for Xonotic what should i use ? RE: Mapping tutorials - CuBe0wL - 05-13-2010 Netradiant, as it has some useful patches for both the program and both q3map2 that GtkRadiant does not have. Also, Netradiant supports Nexuiz/Xonotic out of the box. RE: Mapping tutorials - Grasshopper - 06-08-2010 Anyone interested in showing what netradiant can do with all the new features and old . over time ive picked up some shortcuts and found new ways to do things . like for instance i made a terrain using imgtomap . i set its texture and didnt like how it turned out . So instead of shift+clicking each triangle i used ctrl+alt+e , and that selected all of the terrain pieces to easily retexture it . This method only seems to work on func_grouped brushes . so i guess im asking if there is an easy to understand manual , or if someone can make one . heh i wouldnt mind knowing if there is an easy way to select many faces at the same time thats only seen by the player. maybe i should start a netradiant tips thread . RE: Mapping tutorials - Bundy - 09-08-2010 I found these very helpful for the beginning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc13oaUau7c RE: Mapping tutorials - TH3FTB0T - 09-09-2010 q3 tuts RE: Mapping tutorials - mepper[NoSkillsOnlyLuck] - 01-04-2011 I downloaded NetRadiant too and understand almost everything (also watched some videos on youtube). But I have 1 question. Hw to get textures? My texture browser is empty . Do I have to make them myself, if yes how? Or did I just forget 1 important thing RE: Mapping tutorials - O.I.B. - 01-04-2011 (01-04-2011, 03:31 PM)mepper[NoSkillsOnlyLuck] Wrote: I downloaded NetRadiant too and understand almost everything (also watched some videos on youtube). Hey I started mapping since today (at least trying too). You need to download Xonotic 0.1 preview and unpack it. Then in netradiant set the path to it: under "edit -> Preferences -> Settings -> Path" On my system its /home/oib/Desktop/Xonotic/ RE: Mapping tutorials - mepper[NoSkillsOnlyLuck] - 01-05-2011 Thanks, I'll try! [Ofc I already downloaded Xonotic.] RE: Mapping tutorials - mepper[NoSkillsOnlyLuck] - 01-08-2011 I tested but it doesn't work I still cant click on my tex. browser. I can see the icon but it is grey and I click. Someone help me! RE: Mapping tutorials - mepper[NoSkillsOnlyLuck] - 01-12-2011 It finally works! Thank you! I'll make an ONS map now. RE: Mapping tutorials - Lord Canistra - 01-17-2011 I'd like to add those links as I myself am starting learning stuff about Q3 shaders. http://www.ritualistic.com/games/fakk2/editing/shader_manual.html http://toolz.nexuizninjaz.com/shader/ RE: Mapping tutorials - Morphed - 08-15-2011 i found some pdfs about architectural lighting, i didnt read them yet but i want to share them here before i forget this link http://www.erco.com/products/download/others/downloaddat_3992/en/en_downloaddat_dltut_1.php?aktion=_startseite&sprache=en&dir=30_media/25_guide_pdf RE: Mapping tutorials - Maddin - 08-15-2011 These tutorials are useful for every q3 engine based games: http://www.map-craft.com/modules.php?name=Tutoriaux For those who want to build good terrain: http://simonoc.com/pages/articles.htm |
