Suggestions for the betterment of Xonotic - theShadow - 03-23-2010

I am not 100% familiar with the animation process, but I do know that good animations can really add depth to a game

one of the main things that bothered me about nexuiz was the lack of spine deform. this meant that the game characters upper body did not tilt to follow the aim of the player. this just looked odd.

I have no idea how hard it would be to code this, but if there were someone that could, it would make xonotic much better.

the other thing would be reload animations for guns, and animated guns in general (rotating mortar cylinder) but those can be discussed later.

just yesterday someone started work on animation blending.. Which would be neede for such "spine" things..

The spine thing has always thrown me off, during that moment of "Is he looking at me or at him?" before I get nexed out of the sky. It would be great if this was implemented in nexuiz.

Actually this does sort of depend on Illfonic. I am the one who started to code blending animations. The problem is that I do not know anything about player networking and the Illfonic lead programmer offered to bring back his setup of player networking back to Nexuiz. I am not sure if he will still be doing that because of all the arguments and stuff but I hope he does and if he does, I will do my very best to create better animations through code with the help of mand1nga.
