XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - Bla1 - 05-03-2018
So I switched my hard drive from a laptop with a NVIDIA graphics card to one with an AMD graphics card. Long story short, I wanted to get my OS to use the AMD Graphics card instead of the default intel one, and after I couldn't get it to work, Xonotic stopped working. [Xonotic used to work when I was using the default intel graphics card].

I tried installing Radeon drivers to get a different game to work better, and after that game started crashing, I removed the drivers and found Xonotic stopped working. I imagine Xonotic also stopped working even before I removed the Radeon drivers, only I didn't try it.
RE: XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - cefiar - 05-03-2018
So the issue here is that Xonotic (like most games under Linux) use OpenGL libraries to do 3D graphics.
With switching around your video hardware, you don't have the underlying drivers that can provide OpenGL access to the video card anymore.
There's a cli tool call `inxi` that you can install that gives you details on various systems that might help when debugging (better than trying to start 3D/OpenGL graphics programs each time).
eg: on my machine, `inxi -G` outputs this:
Code: Graphics: Card: Intel Device 5912
Display Server: X.Org 1.19.2 drivers: intel (unloaded: modesetting, fbdev, vesa)
Resolution: 1920x1080@60.00hz
GLX Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel HD Graphics 630 (Kaby Lake GT2)
GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 17.3.9
Not all video cards will put out the same info.
With regards to Radeon (and video drivers in general):
There's usually many classes of cards and chipsets, and over time the older cards can be relegated to a legacy driver for support (ie: no longer supported after that version). Nvidia has done this with many older cards. In the case of Radeon, it's more complicated, as their old proprietary binary driver isn't supported anymore. You really want to check that it's supported at all by the drivers available (and even the release of the OS you're running, eg: what specific version of Ubuntu you have).
Note: The output from `inxi` is very useful in finding out what video card/chipset is in your system (and what the kernel thinks it is), which will help someone solve your issue.

So I followed these instructions https://gist.github.com/erikvip/0e46a6d9ad742c81d148 , and seemed to make some progress.

RE: XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - cefiar - 05-03-2018
Deleted my last post as you gave more info.
I suspect you're missing a package or two that provide the intel DRI drivers (as it's trying to use intel 3rd gen driver now, not the second Radeon 7730M).

When I do locate, here is the output

It exists, and glxinfo finds it: libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/i965_dri.so,
Why doesn't glxinfo accept it?
RE: XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - Bla1 - 05-03-2018
I figured it out, I just need to add the following prefix before any openGL program.
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1.2.0 LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/ LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/ ./xonotic_linux64-glx
RE: XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - Freddy - 05-04-2018
I haven't used Ubuntu in a while but I guess you either need to use "update-alternatives" or set up "PRIME"
RE: XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - cefiar - 05-05-2018
Things to try:
1. Run `update-alternatives --config glx` and see if you have an option for mesa direct. If there is, choose that.
2. If not, then simply remove the glx-diversions package using `apt-get remove glx-diversions`. It'll probably want to remove a bunch of nvidia related packages as well.
The issue here is that it looks like your system was set up with nvidia drivers at some stage in the past, and nvidia has their own ideas on how to provide OpenGL libraries.
What you're doing with the command line above is bypassing the built-in location for where the OpenGL libraries are, to the place they've been 'diverted' to using the glx-diversions package.
Note: `dpkg-divert --list|grep libGL` will show you the packages diverting the libGL files, just in case it's not glx-diversions doing that. If that's the case, then you probably want to remove that package.
PS: Once it's all done, reboot and you should be right to go.
RE: XUbuntu playing with drivers and now Xonotic doesn't start - Bla1 - 05-15-2018
Sorry for the late reply, I was kinda caught up in finals.
I tried update-alternatives --config glx, except it had no output.
I tried apt-get remove glx-diversions, except it wasn't installed.
dpkg-divert --list|grep libGL also had no output.
