Major FPS Drops - master[mind] - 08-23-2010 I'll compile some screenshots when I get a chance, but I'll describe the problem. I'm using the windows client - 32bit on Vista x64. Client runs fine, but there are some odd performance issues: Xonotic.exe: 1. Looking at a single playermodel drops my framerate from 130fps to 70fps. Multiple models kills performance. Looking at a weapon or health/armor does not produce the drop. This was tested with every setting maxed and with every setting at min. 600fps to 280fps. 2. Firing a weapon with settings maxed creates drop from 130fps to 45-60fps. Just a single rocket/nexshot/shotgun shot causes this. Same result with settings at min(need to recheck this). 3. These problems are not present in the SDL version. Xonotic_SDL.exe: 1. Firing the nex drops framerate from 130fps to 45fps even at lowest particle quality. 2. Firing any weapon with realtime dynamic lighting drops framerate from 130fps to 45fps. This was not an issue in Nexuiz on a 8600GT @ 1600x1200(80fps) but affects 2 GTX 465's in SLI. Even when settings are reduced to minimum and dynamic lights are enabled, framerate drops from 600fps to 300fps. BTW, SLI works excellently, better than most commercial games I own. Very little desync on menus, non in game. Excellent. Hope I was clear enough, that was with the git build from Aug21. RE: Major FPS Drops - chooksta - 08-23-2010 set ya process for the game to high , (ctrl , alt , delete , then click on process, find game , set to high , make sure game is runnin) , see if that helps :^ RE: Major FPS Drops - Mr. Bougo - 08-23-2010 This won't fix the problem, the fps will still drop a lot. It drops for a reason, and process priority is not that reason. RE: Major FPS Drops - master[mind] - 08-23-2010 Yeah, it's something wrong with how the engine handles dynamic lighting, because a single dynamic light source shouldn't cause that much of a drop. Even when the projectile is far away, the drop stays steady until the projectile and light source are gone. |
