Then select disable desktop composition and visual themes. You might want to run it in Windows XP mode as well (from the drop down list).

Can you try ensuring your graphics driver is up to date, and is the driver from the chip vendor's site, not the one included with Windows?
Yes, it has the latest update straight from the Nvidia site.
