IP v4 RIP

Rainbow
Now that the internet has run out of IP v4 numbers, we must start to use IP v6 instead.

What ever happened to IP v3, why has the internets skipped over v5? Is the old fashioned Linux numbering system - even numbers are releases and odd numbers are betas/tests - a bit like GIMP. If that is accurate, whatever happened to IP v2?

* Spaceman wants some IP v2

I love Wikipedia. IPv2 redirects to IP which doesn't have a single mention of IPv2.

Try telling that to large corporations and ISPs Tongue IPv4 is the IE6 of addressing schemes, and it's not going to die for a long time yet Sad
