Proposed character voicepack demo

#1
Here's a quick sketch of a pack of taunts and the like. I figure this stuff is supposed to be over comm devices of some kind, so treated them as such for this demo. There are also some congratulatory phrases meant to be used by a player when he/she gets nicely fragged, or after a good battle. Thought it might play well. I'll post a few more 'characters' soon.

'Comm' effect:

Interesting, about the preference of the raw recordings. Perhaps the 'comm device' effect here was too extreme? The intent there was to answer the question 'where are these voices supposed to be coming from?' When I do a real session for those instead of this poorly mic'd quickie, I'll try some much more gentle treatment there. This is like the massive distortion of some cheap FRS radio, I'm getting a clear message that it's not the way to go. Thoughts? And all these effects are put on in post, so there's room to experiment and adjust, nothing's committal. Thanks a lot guys!

EDIT: Almost forgot, I meant to ask for suggestions for more phrases for this 'character'. Categories so far include taunts, team stuff, and stuff you'd use to compliment someone on a nice frag. I'm sure I'm missing tons. Thanks again!
Here's what I've got so far for the next session. It needs a lot added, and I'm open to remove anything. There are a couple that I'd vote to remove or change, but didn't want to be too hasty if I was the only one that didn't like it. Everything in the demo will be redone.

--Character A - Taunt
Yeah!
That all you got?
Walk on home, boy.
How's it taste?
THAT'S right.
Eat it!
Who's next?
OWNED!
Get USED to THAT.
Better luck next time.
You want some more?
Plenty more where THAT came from.

--Character A - Congrats
Nice!
Daaaamn!
Bullshit!
What happened?
What?
My face!
That's what I'm talkin' about!
Not bad.

--Character A - Team
I've got the flag.
I need some backup!
How 'bout some backup?
Hey, same team!
Are you colorblind?

Nice stuff!

I like both versions, and think we could use both (at least for some things). What i have in mind is playing the dry version at the players location, like any other world sound, and playing g the "comm" ones to teammates regardless of location.

That's a cool idea, never seen it done that way before. Maybe, so each taunt you hear against you is more relevant, and to de-spam the audio (see the my little ponies Xonotic video with 5 taunts playing at the same time at any given moment), the taunts should be played over the fragee's comm, and the fragger hears it clean. Nobody else needs to hear it, because they didn't frag or get fragged. This definitely helps with a problem I anticipated of there just being too many taunts playing too often, and getting turned off for that reason.

Those sound very good and of great quality! I support adding them to Xonotic Big Grin Let's just hope they don't get forgotten, like it happens with 99% of the contributions that are 99% finished for years.
