Launching overkill mod

#1
How do I run the overkill mod in local games? I already have the zzzoverkill.pk3, but where do I place it? I'm using Mac OS 10.6.8.

You need to compile the game.

I asked the exact same question a while ago.

The only thing you can play with is the player models, but even then you are stuck with only 1 model at a time (you have to select the model you want and then force the player model you've got so the bots have it too).

How do I compile the game?

I can't seem to find the models in the model selection location. How do I load them exactly?

OK models are in a OK-specific location, which is not the default place for models. You can't use them outside of OK like that.

As for compiling, you'll need a bit of familiarity with technical stuff (command lines etc), a lot of bandwidth and disk space (something like 5 gigabytes), and some patience.

If you're using windows: http://dev.xonotic.org/projects/xonotic/...in_Windows
If you're using linux or mac, you'll have to do some work. You'll need git, a C compiler and some required libraries.

If you're using windows and you have questions, please tell me what isn't clear about the guide.

Remember, it's not easy and it takes time.

Well ... to put it in perspective ... compiling xonotic is actually much easier than some smaller (but more complicated) projects. Like gimp ...

I don't have that much experience (okay, no experience at all) in compiling stuff, so you guys need to be more clear on the matter.

(If overkill gets included in xonotic 0.7.0, I will wait for that version rather than going into a path of trouble and using it in 0.6.0)

Okay, I installed git, and a C compiler, now what?

For Mac, I really don't know... All I know is that you need to install xcode. Then, it's mostly the same as linux, but I really don't know about the dependencies.

Follow the instructions for linux on the wiki. I posted a link to the windows page above, if you go back to the index you should find the linux instructions.
