[SUGGESTION] Xonotic lore?

#26
The trouble with lore is, there's not much of a game to go by... Most of it is fighting other players in random arenas with sci-fi high tech weapons.

That said, incorporating a singleplayer experience with some kind of lore may be a great way to do it. That of course is a much larger task that would require a team behind it, which may explain why neither have yet been attempted fully.

Well, we already have a storyline, Smilee's one. It is quite excellent.

Just need a team now. And a person who has experience in pizza delivery as a tech consultant.

our thoughts as well. look at Q3A, the grand-daddy of xonotic:

Quote:Untold centuries ago the Vadrigar, the mysterious Arena Masters, constructed the Arena Eternal for their own infernal amusement. Virtually nothing is known of these beings except that they savor the carnage and clamor of battle. As such, they have stocked the arena with the greatest warriors of all time. And you have just joined their ranks. ~ http://quake.wikia.com/wiki/Vadrigar

this is like the entire Q3A lore, not a summary, and it works great Heart what we could really use is some concept art. a story without images won't grab anyone's attention, but if we have wicked cool paintings with captions, like a mini (a dozen or so plates) comic book with a short and enigmatic origin story that creates more questions than it answers, that would seriously shred. the downside is, it would require some mad artist to volunteer, but the upside is, it is much more feasible than weaving the origin story into the single-player campaign. the latter may not be a good option anyway: as others said, the game mechanics do not really make it easy to come up with anything like a rational explanation or a convincing plot, so may be it's best not to mix the lore with the gameplay Tongue
