When i launch Xonotic SDL from KDE, both the game and DM crash and send me to the login screen. Why is that?
I am using Artix with OpenRC
Works here on Manjaro KDE. Probably not an issue with Xonotic, but your specific system.
I use Artix/Runit/KDE/Xorg and haven't seen any crashes when launching Xonotic.
A few weeks ago I had two crashes because the nvidia driver segfaulted, but that was totally unrelated to SDL or Xonotic.
What's the rest of your system? Xorg or Wayland? Nvidia proprietary driver?
Can you reach your system with ssh after the crashes? Check /var/log/Xorg.0.log (or /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old after a reboot) in case you're using Xorg.

My guess is that it's a library thing with Artix, which I've never heard of.
