It was different than what the rifle does. The rifle fires a couple of shots in succession, and that mutator made the shots at once and ~10 of them. Too bad I can't remember the name of that mutator.

I managed to find some old screenshots, they don't show it too good, but it's better than nothing

Actually I might take back what I said. It had been a while since I played Xonotic and just played with the Nex for a while. I think it's probably good as-is. Zooming with mouse3 is rather annoying for me, but I definitely feel the weapon should be zoomable, so mouse2 is nice. If another mode is NEEDED, maybe have it switchable with mouse3 on the primary fire?

I like the Nex scope on the alt fire button, and would be confused and find it hard to zoom + aim if it went away. So I can't add myself to the list of people who support this.

Besides... the Nex probably couldn't have an interesting alt-fire mode since it's just a sniper meant to hit in a certain point. Two firing modes were attempted for the Camping Rifle, and as far as I can tell they do the same thing only that one uses a different firing sound and refire rate is different.
