360 Degree Panoramic Display support - Cuinnton - 02-07-2011

Was looking for a place to recycle old computer parts today, where I came across a local library computer recycling bin. Inside I found 20 working 17in LCD screens. A pretty good find considering they were free! Smile

Anyway I always wanted to create a 360 degree panoramic display and I figure this is my chance! I already have an 8 vga connector so i figure an 8 screens will be enough. Turns out its already been done with quake 3.

Would love to see this working with Xonotic. Or course it is not a needed right now, but might be a fun little project.
Not sure how well 1280 x 1024 x 8 or 10240 x 1024 will run on my GTX480 but we will have to find out Tongue
If i cannot get it to work well as a 360 degree panoramic display, it will become a 8 screen trading station which is fine by me. http://www.invest2success.com/images/trading_computers_8screens.jpg

of course this would be more ideal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yqVChaRBsQ&feature=related but none the less this is more easily implemented. Smile

Would like to see someone accomplish that, but I would imagine the performance would drop to a creeping halt.

PS: Any chance you would send me 1 or 2 of those? =D. I've been running on my 10 year old 15" HP CRT ever since my LCD broke on me, which sucked cuz I totally can't afford another one.

lol where do u live? I'm in Australia, probably wouldn't be worth the shipping? I recommend you find your nearest computer recycling bin Tongue
At the moment, removing the casing to get as thin profile as possible.

Can you use a combination of stereobuffer (for two views with 180 degrees angle to each other), and Xinerama (to have a 4 screens wide display)?
