Apparently this game hates Xonar cards running under Windows 8 - Lee_Stricklin - 09-18-2014

Don't know what the issue is, but no matter what driver and how I tweak anything, I cannot get the card to do anything other than stereo configuration even though it's supposed to support with as many as eight speakers in it. Outside of Xonotic, I've never had a problem playing things in 5.1.

Not sure how it's implemented in the engine, but assuming it uses SDL I don't think they support more than 5.1.

On my previous board's audio, I had no problem playing it in full 7.1. I can also run Nexuiz 2.5.2 (and probably earlier) without a single sound issue at all, with the speaker configuration I want. So whatever it is, it's a bug that's been introduced since then.

Are you using autobuild? I should been more clear: SDL2 doesn't have it yet as far as I know, but I'm not sure if Xonotic have switched to it. May not be your issue but I got a habbit of findings bugs/weird things in games and then end up finding out it's SDL. o.o

I was at one point, until I wiped my system. Currently I'm using 0.7. Under the autobuild I was able to get 5.1 with some major playback issues in regards to speed (speed ups in sound playback every other second), however I did get it to do 4.0 without any issue.
