Devastator/mortar glitch (0.8.2 client/0.8.1 server) - gd - 05-18-2017

Since I've upgraded to 0.8.2, whenever I play on 0.8.1 servers (of which there are still many, there is even a 0.7.0 one), whenever I hold the devastator or the mortar, another one appears in front of me, blocking my view (see screenshot). Only with these weapons (not with the hagar either). Has anyone else had this problem?

I use Linux (openSUSE 42.2) and the  open source radeon driver.

This is a known incompatibility with 0.8.1, and caused by the use of animated view models. A partial fix that removes the animations is being prepared for Git and autobuilds, though hagar will remain broken on old servers.

Interestingly, when I encountered this on old servers, the Hagar was unaffected, just the Devastator and Grenade Launcher.

Ah OK. Same here, hagar is unaffected.

Btw do 0.8.1 clients generally work with 0.8.2 servers? (So if I ask people who may be running 0.8.1 to come over to a 0.8.2 server, will it work?)

It should work fine, since Xonotic will auto download the client game script.
