I myself sticked to playing Nexuiz too, at first, because I thought the gameplay was not good. But then the laser got an update on its push force again and I started to learn the new physics. For some while I played both Nexuiz and Xonotic and eventually found that Xonotic is more attractive after all. It's two months or so now that I last played Nexuiz...

Having learnt the basics of movement and to use the new weapons effectively, Xonotic seems to me way more balanced already now than Nexuiz ever was. I actually found myself configuring binds for crylink and hagar, weapons I never used on purpose in Nexuiz. I feel well equipped with pretty much any pickup weapon (except for the mg perhaps, but I NEVER liked the mg so never mind that). I am comfortable with the movement. I enjoy doing trickjumps. I am having fun all along.

Making the gap between skill levels narrower is a good thing to do as well, since it enables MORE players to have MORE interesting games with each other. I'd also like to point out that the narrowing of the gap is not like PCL vs Newbie would turn out 20:19 now, but that the balancing effect is really quite moderate.

So my bottom line is that if you change the game, then people will need to adapt to the changes. Adapting is painful, it means learning, most people don't want to do that and prefer to stick to what they know. OF COURSE people will complain.

But if you don't change the game, there'd be no point in working on it. You need to be open for changes in order to experience improvements. 1.0 is still a long way to go and if you participate NOW there are chances you can help making the result turn out better.

I love the direction Xonotic is going.
