but I think your view of xonotic's history is a little distorted ...

xonotic is pretty much nexuiz 3 http://www.alienTRAP.org/games/nexuiz ...
nexuiz has been a working ("finished") competitive platform for almost 10 years ...

and judging from what I know ... there have been people developing the whole way though ...
not to mention mods like minsta ... rocketminsta ... overkill ...
and forks ... xonotic ... vore tournament ...

just because you havn't seen much action in the 1 month of forum existence does not mean that no development is happening ...

development wise ... i'm not going to jump into engine developing overnight ...
it took me 6 f#%king years to learn java ...
its going to take time for me to understand quake c too ...

BzFlag team isn't interested in any of that, they're interested in their own clique. There are no pk3 file sort of options, textures either exist in the game dir or they are downloaded everytime the map loads from their webserver, you must gain their permission to add new textures to your maps and if they someday decide they do not like you they delete all your textures and ruin your maps. It's the clique that counts.
