Thought you guys might find this device interesting. It is actually a great way to interact with your with your computer within a 3D space.
This combined with blender would be pretty cool.
I hear depending on how successful this is, they might put this into upcoming tablets and computers.
I am hoping this takes off as it would be a breath of fresh air when it comes to what we have been using as hardware.

This is stupid... Whenever I see some kind of user interface based on something like from the Minority Report (movie) (yeah, it was a bad movie, and totally not relevant to the book), as in waving hands in the air I feel the designers of the thing are just dumb...

Want a test? stretch your arm forward and keep it in the air. How long will you last before you get tired? A couple of minutes is really a great achievement here - the human arm is not designed to be waved in front for extended periods of time. Hence all interfaced based on this fail or eventually end up in hollywood movies. Remember the vr helmets and vr gloves from the 90's? The same case.

Interaction elements like this are important advances in technology, regardless of their current ergonomic issues. Applying something like this to a general computing use case is really just stupid, and serves as a poor demonstration of the technology.

Hmm there might be a valid point regarding arm strain when reaching and holding your arms for a prolonged amount of time. I guess the alternative would be to minimize this as much as possible by allowing alternative postures to be possible.

A good example is that of conducting and orchestra where the arms never need to be outstretched to such a degree as to be too uncomfortable. Though I notion that with regards to technology becoming more physical with regards to touchscreen and using appendages as a control that people will have to exert more that simply using the minimal amount of effort required for mouse and keyboard.

Tbh, I just want to be able to use 2 mighty mouses (4 buttons each mouse) in each hand with voice recognition when I want to write a document or search something online. Without keyboard.

That's why some people like to set up their computers or develop their software in a way that makes mouse usage completely optional.

Or you could use one of these keyboards with a trackball in the middle if you really do need a mouse.

10GUI seems pretty nifty. Especially since it runs on Linux. Leap... eh. I don't like waving my arms around like a doofus.

Hmm will have to try one of those out one day. Looks a bit off putting but I'm willing to try it out.

Disclaimer: I haven't. So I can't guarantee anything. But I would sure want to try as well.

that's called a trackpoint I believe, not trackball.
