I'm building a handheld game system!

#1
It's called TMO, inspire by BMO from adventure time!

I started working on this in January and there's finally a significant amount of stuff to show on/about it. It's based on a Teensy (Atmel Mega32U4) and has a custom 16x16 LED matrix display.

I posted a video of my progress: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7OZW70DfJQ

Short blog post from March: http://www.brandonfoltz.com/2013/03/tmo-...roduction/

OS code is on GitHub: https://github.com/JayWalker512/TMOOS

Ask me anything Smile

Nice!

And now, to follow the tradition for every new platform / hardware there is: will it run Xonotic?

Really cool project! Remember when I was little building a "portable" GameCube, not really same kind of coolness level as here but I get some flashbacks. Smile

Followed you on github and starred the OS code.

When does it goes into mass-production? I might buy a few thousands for further retail...

No, but it could probably draw a few triangles :p
Could eventually mod Xonotic to display health/ammo on TMOs display though.

As soon as someone puts up the cash to mass produce it, hehe. As it stands this will probably be a one (MAYBE two)-off project. Though it would be really cool to have lots of these, there are already many similar homebrew-style game systems available for purchase online. The Meggy Jr RGB is a good example. I though greater resolution would be more valuable than color though for my design.

Yes, but can it run Crysis?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Tongue

oh my god this is the most amazing thing ever i demand that the xonotic developers drop support for windows, mac, linux, superintelligent toasters and all suggested support for any other platform ever and support just this because it would be really cool if we could all play xonotic in 16x16 which would be so cool and if i carry on talking like this in one sentence in real life im pretty sure that ill end up passing our through not breathing which is what tends to happen when you speak in enormously long sentences without stopping to breath... [passes out]

Amazing of course but I just had to get in with the same snowballing out of control support for platforms that just aren't going to play Xonotic, ever.

Good job and I hope you're not going to charge for a closed source devkit. ;-)

Not only 16x16, but MONOCHROME 16x16! What could be better?
