Hi all! Especially musicians or dudes who just like to have fun with musical stuff.
If you don't mind I'd like to share with you my crappy piece of improvisation made with LMMS and ZynAddSubFX.
I've done a simple drumloop with a brake here and there, streched it until (almost) forever, and started playing with one synth. Then I started to play with second, then I was plying with the first on top of the second. Anyway...
It's kinda trippy and fun. Not really clever as I was playing on my crappy QWERTY and I'am not a good player, just for fun.
There is source file, so you guys can use the very same synths and re-record the notes in your fashion using LMMS
Catch this and share your own!
I strongly encourage you to grab you keyboard, and improvise too!
WARNING:
You might fail to notice that you're listening to it for about 4 hours so long. It's a trap. You've been warned!

löl
and the project file tries to load "unknown LADSPA-Plugin sc4".
All in all a nice tune. It would fit a puzzle game or one of those really old mazy side scrollers.

SC4 can be found in the Audacity plugin pack...in essence, it's an LADSPA plugin, but you should be able to replace it with Fast Lookahead Limiter..at least to a small extent, they seem to serve the same purpose.

Ok. You asked for it - don't blame me, then.

DISCLAIMER: the kind of music linked above is totally not suited for Xonotic in any way, but it's what's coming out of my piano when I just sit down and play randomly. It won't even be a genre anyone here is likely to like at all. So be warned.
You asked for improvisation, you get improvisation. :o)

i will not blame you for sure, Halogene. In fact, i think it's pretty nice piece of music.
After long day, after good dinner, sitting with glass of wine and listening to such calm, relaxing music (this is what i'm doing at the moment).
Thank you for this Halogene
btw. quite surprising to find such thing on a forum dedicated to futuristic first person shooter...
<Halogene> ok "n1" means "nice one"
<Halogene> "gl" means "good luck"
<Halogene> "fu" means "wow that was wickedly nice that frag"

What, I haven't noticed your reply to this thread at all. Thank you very much - though I pretty much killed the thread apparently. I didn't also expect anyone on this forum to like this sort of music at all.
I'll for sure add more improvisations at some point that go well with good wine, but I am currently a bit short in spare time though (hence my absense from the pickup channel as well...). Plus I am planning for some more electro ambient style music similar to the piece I did for chooksta ( http://soundcloud.com/halogene/4chook-wip ). But that takes time... there'll be probably more piano improvisations before that since for those I only need to sit down and start recording, if the mood is right there'll be something worth recording I guess.
Stay tuned

o.O my, that's pretty impressive! Cool stuff. I can detect only a VERY few flaws in intonation. I wouldn't have expected that kind of quality here. I'm listening to it while writing this and it keeps getting cooler all the time.
You MUST love Bobby McFerrin's "The Voice" album - if you don't know it, you just NEED to try this out :o)
Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37DHXrFfwrE - if you don't know about Bobby McFerrin, this is "Blackbird" sung by him solo - bassline and everything included :oP But judging your style I believe you're even inspired by him already.
P.S.: I am still amazed - please do more of this. If you feel you can do this, try also to improvise on known themes, this will be most probably a requirement for public shows at least in the beginning. The public tends to want what they already know, just a bit different. :o)

That's really sweet, unfa and Halo.
It's indeed refreshing to find such posts.
Thanks.

Thanks, Halogene and Rage Against The Washing Machine I'm really happy to hear you like this!
Yeah I too spot some mistakes I've done during that improvisation especially on some fast arpeggios, I wanted to check my skills in that Gonna do more exercises and improve...
I don't have any album of Bobby McFerrin, but I love everything I can find on YouTube about him
Keep improvisin', man!

Okay, since this topic is getting hotter again I need to update my soundcloud profile with another piano improvisation.

Hotel California is indeed a good chord basis so as to improvise.
I like it very much too Halo.

Thanks a lot unfa and Rage! Actually I made several "mistakes" - as far as you can say that in improvisation - but I am just too noob to edit them out
Edit: the main "typos" in this improvisation are actually - 0.50: note of bassline accidentally delayed
- 2:29: some totally unfitting major note came in here o.O where did that come from? No idea.
- 2:58: AGAIN a delayed/missing bass note...
- 3:37: yeah, right, finger slipped obviously to another key.
Another edit:
Since at least some people seem to like it, I uploaded something I did already some years ago which I personally find quite nice. Now this is for sure something to listen to while sipping at a glass of nice red wine in a comfy-chair. Just make sure nobody's around to POKE YOU WITH THE SOFT CUSHIONS!!ONE
oh. sry. I got carried away about the comfy-chair. Well here it is: http://soundcloud.com/halogene/very-tired
Played it during the night after a long and tiring day. As usual, totally unedited.
