This is the bridge that appears here

It wasn't built for Xonotic and I think that it's not playable. If somebody wants to play take or modify it. But there is a problem: the textures are from cgtextures.com and I think that they cannot use in open source (like GPL) projects Angry They should be replaced with new ones.

Ok, first off, I think you built the pk3 wrong. Don't compress the 'laino' folder, select all the other ones (maps, scripts, etc.) at once and compress them, then rename.

Secondly, the architecture looks very nice. This is definitely worth putting more work into.

Thirdly, the tall ladders that go up to the top don't seem to be working Undecided

Fourthly, there are no weapons on the map, so the only gamemode it will support right now (I realise that it's not done, just telling other people so they know where to look for it) is LMS.

Speaking of gamemodes, It seems to be set up for CTF. Is this what it was intended for? If so, you'll probably want a translucent water texture to prevent the enemy from sneaking up on the base.

Fifth and finally, be very careful on where you put the sniping weapons (especially the rifle) and how much of their ammo you place.

Also, If you want a skybox that looks like fog, BARTUC has a pretty good one called 'persistant fog' here.

Anyway this is very good, I would suggest making it CTF, or maybe assault (like one team has to shoot the supports out from under the bridge to make it fall or something).

Nice design. Textures could propably be re-made under GPL.

Yeah retexturing hopefully shouldn't be too big of a problem. I see huge potential in this map... Can we have it released under the GPLv2? (the .map file only, no textures) :-P

the brigde as object is wunderful but for me its a bit senseless only the bridge
maybe the bridge would be better in a canyon

I think faking a city/island with extremely low detail models and textures would solve that problem. I like the idea of this map. Making the connected islands smaller would give it an even cooler feel. As crazy as this sounds, look at the Halo 2 level Regret, it's kinda what this map feels like at this point, albiet more industrial which fits Xonotic's style. I really like it! Great for CTF.

I think faking a city/island with extremely low detail models and textures would solve that problem. I like the idea of this map. fake city is an good idea mabe as skybox models and behind the models 2d pictures.... but a mars canyon would fit xonotic too maybe ill use the bridge just to show you what i mean

Wait.. the pk3 has 'maps', 'scripts', 'textures' and 'gfx' folders. Or you mean 'maps/laino' folder?

Xonotic players are too fat, the bridge was done for smaller players. Better to use the lift. I think that long ladders are going to be annoying.

And yes, a bridge floating in the air doesn't make sense.
A like the canyon idea, but maybe the city (with models and skybox) is more adecuate, with less tris.

_para, do you use Img2Map Tool? Can you make a test map with it? I'll try to make a canyon but with another editor.

Ah! The design is not mine, I used this bridge as a reference, which is the world's oldest transporter bridge (so no futuristic Tongue)

i'll use imgtomap. maybe ill make tomorrow(or today no today its 0:52 on my clock)

but in the map would be only the bridge left
itemplacement is easy but boring(sometimes) to have it not only lms place a weapon somewhere

and maybe someone else have to compile because netradiant get sometimes memory errors(i have 4gig ram and 2.6*4 quadcore but win7)

im on it ;D i have the canyon map finished the bridge is on its final place just making blue and red base for the mars canyon ill post the sreens in "screenshots of what you are doing"
i also calculated the gravity for the level because normal is 800 i have 303,375 its calculated by the gravity or the earth and mars in the bases i have gravity fields calculated so the gravity in the bases are 800 (303,375*2,637 its almost 800 (799,999875))
and when you are too close to the mapborders youll die because there is no air... i hope i can test if it works today...

merged useless quadcolumns and else things on the bridge deleted the train bacause would not make sense down in the canyon

the bridge i also here the center of the map but you cant use a train so you dont have to wait for it and the action is on the bridge on the bridges top should be 2 nexguns and you cant camp because on this heigh a trigger hurt starts to damage you its builts with 4 other trigger_hurt the general suffocation zone of the map

AAAAND i scaled the bridge up (*2.5)
ill definitely add orange fog and orange dust particles to the ground like redplanet but thell have a winddirection and they should fall down the acclivities

I actually prefer Rifle over Nex for sniping cause of the damage falloff and charging. I consider it more of a short range weapon that is very deadly but takes lots of skill to operate Undecided Maybe just me.

The 'train' wasn't really necessary in the first place, 1 laser jump and you're over.

Do you like the 'treasure island' map? Or did you make it? Those buildings had trigger_hurt on the roof which I always found kind of annoying. Just give each team an HLAC--it should have enough radius to reach them and push off.

Anyway, I'll be able to give you much better feedback once I've tried it (hint hint).

Nice Job on the canyon, just make sure it doesn't give either side the advantage.

Edit: Wow! that's a lot of orange. I like the fog. And you've included a TAG! My favorite!

nah the tag is only that i can play it as dm ;D i placed only this wepon i mean the bluebase is not finished and the redbase has only the fundament

Yes, you misspelled 'colonie' (should be 'colony') and 'splling' (should be 'spelling'). Can I safely guess you're not American/English?

Is that for your mapinfo? I hate it when people don't include mapinfos.

the terrain looks like its made of a giant patch. It could lead to big performance issues

and the fog is not perfect and i only can set a global fog not for special areas
some vlues dont have a sense the last 2 make no difference the bigger one of the last to makes the fog till 10000 invisible and above visible (like 1/0 vor this i have alpha)

so here is the mapfile i wanted to finish the map but i have no ideas for the map the blue base is only the layout the red the fundaments (which should be connected by a bridge) and the texture is too orange... i have no idea for weeks what i can put into the map

so here is the link the map files name is "Dune-SBS.map"

My NetRadiant is not working... Compile a .bsp for me and I'll try to help you with your architecture (I believe that's what you're asking for, if not try to explain a little better Wink)

Yeah I don't need high quality, just enough to hop around in-game with. Maybe you could also post a minimap, so I could show you what needs be where.
