Ideas about downloading music from Youtube

#1
Hello everyone, I am facing a problem recently. I want to download music from Youtube. I found some applications ( Freemake, 4K Video Downloader, YouTube to MP3 Converter) that suggested here. Which one is best for downloading music from Youtube. Or can anyone suggest me some ideas about downloading music from YT?

Youtube-dl is awesome, but it is a program that you have to run on your PC. You can even play videos in your media player directly from Youtube URLs, via Youtube-dl plugins. The android GUI version of Youtube-dl is called "DVD", but you need the F-Droid Market to install it.

Y2mate.com is the only web service I know of, that allows you to download long videos (2 hours and more?). Almost all others are capped to <30 minutes or <60 minutes. Most music mixsets are >90 minutes.

I personally used 4K Video downloader. Freemake is also a useful tool. But now I use this method to download free music from Youtube. If you want, can check out the process.

you can use VLC media player but you might have to fix some .lua files first

Just use an Invidious instance, and download the videos from there if supported.

Invidious instances had a problem involving captions, right? I tested (unscientifically) a random instance, and after a slow download the video was lacking the captions.

Now yt-dlp is the way to go (as RIAA slowed down the youtube-dl developers). It downloads videos and musics very quickly, even in high qualities. The developers are very active. There are many GUIs available.

If you want a bit of protection against the surveillance by Google, you can download videos from Piped instances, but I found them too slow. (But if you only want a music it works.)

IF you do not want to install any other software, you could try to use the Network Monitor (Inspect Element > Network) to find the correct file. (At least it worked for me in Firefox some months ago.)

Alternatively, if you find some musics you like in Peertube instances, you can easily download them, as Peertube does not try to forbid it.
