[SOLVED] How to start with Xonotic?

Hi, I'm really new in the gnu/linux world and in the Xonotic too.

What I have to do to set up a Xonotic private server?

have a look in xonotic/server/readme.txt this should give you an idea of the basics for running a server.

Also, don't compile the game. Just download it from the website. The dedicated server is the same package as the client.

That depends on what sort of server you want, but generally you'r better off with the release as its 100% compatible with the client release. If you want to use some in-development feature or just cutting edge, the git version is the way to go tough (but note that making it work with all clients can be tricky at times).
