Yes, it's true, but only if you participate!

It will be a 16 (maybe 32), best of 3, single elimination duel tournament, a farewell tournament for Nexuiz until Xonotic should come out, hopefully sometime soon.

There will be a 5 map pool, using this system to decide which maps will be played and which will not be played and which map will be the tiebreaker:
1. There will be a server cointoss or the Admin will flip a coin, decisions on heads or tails will be decided before the flip.
2. The loser of the flip will throw out the map of their choice (normally the map that they do not wish to play his opponent on).
3. The victor of the flip will throw out a map.
4. The loser of the flip will choose a map that will be played second.
5. The victor of the flip will choose a map that will be played first.
6. The remaining one map will be the tiebreaker.
(The semi-finals and finals will be a best of 5, instead of throwing out maps, those maps chosen will be the 3rd and 4th maps, loser of the flip being the 4th map and victor of the flip being the 3rd map)

A finalized map list will be coming soon.

Contact Agamalama or Scorpion on irc on #xonotic.xct or #xonotic.Talionis or in game on whether or not soylent should be in the map list and if guided rockets should be enabled.

We need to decide on a time when this will happen (hopefully before summer ends or as soon as possible).

You can use any approved servers by the admins and both players. If a sever cannot be decided on, the server where both players have similar pings will be chosen by the Admin.

No match will be played without an Admin present. The Admin will take a screenshot at the end of each map played.

Each contestant must be recording a demo of every match they play. To automatically record demos, go to the 'Multiplayer' box from the start up, next hit the 'Demos' tab and select the checkbox labeled 'Record demos while playing'.

We will make a universal config for a balance which will be used on the servers. Most likely the balance on the Batcaves right now.

Matches will be 15 minutes long.

First register on this site, then after you log in there will be a 'Season 1 sign-ups' button at the top of this page, where you logged in. Hit that button and you will be signed up to be in the tournament.

In case of not enough players for a 32 tournament but more than the 16 player tournament limit, the admins will decide which players will accepted based player activity and skill.

We will probably put the finals on our youtube commentated, or any other good games.

I am thinking, if there are enough participants, of making a prize for the winner and runner up. The prizes will most likely be cash or wal-mart or target gift cards.

I like the idea of prizes, since that would perhaps convince more people to sign up. Also, if we could get more tournaments like this one going, it would bring in a lot of competition.

EDIT also imo aggressor is a far superior 1v1 map to soylent, but seeing as i won't be involved with this tournament i guess i shouldn't vote...

Cool, will sign up just for the sake of participating, but I have no time to practice these days and will probably play without really warming up, but it should be a lot fun.

As for balance, personally I'd be a lot more happy if shotgun was nerfed But I can't remember if it is on the batcaves.

We are trying to make it mainly NA players, but if you really want to join, you will have to play on NA servers and only if there are spots available that NA players have not filled.

I will sign up then anyway then you can let me know, I am fully aware and prepared to play on US server's. If I do get a spot and a chance to play i'll be trying to hunt down a east-coast server as much as possible mind you

On a side note, why have you put bloodprison in..? One of the worse maps around for 1on1, why not something like reslimed? which is under-rated and underplayed but has much better gameplay and isn't the size of a shoe.

Surprised you didn't use aerowalk/edge thought they were heavily played on US servers??

We chose blood prison for two reasons. First reason is that this entire tournament is also a sort of 'farewell' to Nexuiz and hopefully a great new beginning in Xonotic, so we only wanted to use default Nexuiz maps. The second reason was because we wanted to have at least one nex-less map and we choose Bloodprison over farewell and downer.

The tournament will start on Sunday, June 20th. This is when the brackets will be created and you can start organizing your matches. You will have one week to complete your first round match. Until then, have fun practicing. and keep looking for updates on this thread and the tournament website.

yeh thats what fails in safari, you click it and you can only go side to side. but yes opening in a new window (and viewing in chrome) worked.

I heard about this, and I am a little sad because I just turned thirteen and I played this game for years. I really want to play in these events,catch and forbidden, or something like that. Is there anyway I can play in these events Will I be surprised if I change my number Away? Will I get banned if they catch me?
