I think it would be much better if you released Xonotic on Steam.
It will attract much more players.
You can release it as a free-to-play game. Considering its decent graphics, amazing gameplay, and uniqueness among the other Steam titles, Xonotic might score a big success.
As an addition, you could also make money by selling game vanity, such as Skins, Weapon Skins, Taunts etc.
Overall it would be a huge leap for this game's career.
I loved Nexuiz, and it's a shame it had to turn out this way. Xonotic looks really promising, even if it's not 100% complete. The Steam community is usually supportive to developing games.
